The Consulate General opened in Melbourne on 24.3.1924; transferred to Sydney on 1.10.1928. For a while Melbourne then remained without consular representation of the Empire. The intention of the Consul General in Sydney, Dr Asmis, to set up a branch of the General Consulate in Melbourne (1932) was not carried out.
31/05/1934 Dr Martin Költzsch, Consul Second Class
(He arrived in Melbourne on 22/08/1934; the consulate formally began operation on 13/10/1934. Its area of jurisdiction was the states of Victoria and Tasmania. From 15/08/1936 it was managed by Consular Secretary Blaesing after the departure of the Consul Dr Költzsch.

September 1939 Consulate closed by Australian authorities after the outbreak of the Second World War.
