Consuls of the German Empire in
Hobart Town 1871-1914

19.10.1871-9.6.1876 Friedrich Buck, Consul
He was a businessman from Hamburg, and during any lengthy absence was represented by the Principal of the High School of Hobart Town, the Reverend R.D. Powlett-Harris, M.A.
The consulate was closed at the end of 1876. An unsuccessful application was made for the establishment of a consulate in Launceston for northern Tasmania.
19.9.1901-9.3.1906 Dr. med. Edgar Wolfhagen, Consul
During any lengthy absence he was represented by the brothers Gustav and Alfred Christian Dehle.
23.5.1909-26.1.1914 Alfred Christian Dehle, Consul
Then Dr. phil. Friedrich Nötling took over the running of the consulate. The planned official appointment of Nötling to the post of Consul was not carried out due to the outbreak of the First World War. Dehle was interned during the war.

From 1937-1939 Tasmania was part of the jurisdiction of the consulate in Melbourne.
